Re: that damn parking lot
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 7:57 PMlucky me, I'm always the one driving when we carpool and my friends are too poor to pay, and I really can't afford an extra $10. Oh well back to street parking for me!

Re: that damn parking lot
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 10:58 AMI don't like paying for parking, but at least your car is watched by those guys for most of the night. And it is a short much safer walk to the club, especially if you can't car pool with someone.

Re: that damn parking lot
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 1:24 PMMy roomie was assaulted last year right by the freeway entrance, so I think that finding a place to park other than there would be a good idea. -

Re: that damn parking lot
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 8:36 PMThere were some mugging in SOMA last year around this time. Groups of asian gang bangers trolling for victims. You can usually find someone at/from BaGG to escort you to your vehicle. Our safety record has been pretty good for the past few years (many more break-ins during the Cat Club era). The Wells Fargo lot is not immune from this chicanery - the thieves just wait until the attendant leaves.
1) Get there early
2) Park close in a well lit spot
3) ::Double:: check the street cleaning signs (they can be tricky)
4) Do NOT (under any circumstances) leave anything of value visible in your car (coats/bags - a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g)
5) If someone approaches you from the street or a car, ignore them, eyes forward and gravitate to a well lit spot (as you pull out your cell phone)
When leaving:
1) Get an escort (especially if you have been drinking)
2) Review #5 above
I have been promoted over 750 BaGG parties at the Trocadero, VsF, Cat Club, Polly Esthers, back to Cats's and then back to the Glas Kat and have never had a break in or mugging threat. I pulled 1 parking ticket (blocked driveway) in 15 years.
Have a plan and stick to it. -

If someone can't afford $10 for parking, how are they going to get a hooker?

Re: that damn parking lot
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 11:30 PMactually I've found that making eye contact is useful, at least with the thugs around my neighborhood. They'll know that you've seen them and gotten a good look and would be able to identify them. They're already causing trouble and don't want to get caught. Women in particular seem to be uncomfortable making eye contact with people on the street, but it is really very important.

Re: that damn parking lot
Tue, May 13, 2008 - 4:25 PMSeconded on the street cleaning warning. I got burned on that a couple times.
Remember, Thursday starts at midnight, and so do many of the street sweeping closures!

Re: that damn parking lot
Tue, May 13, 2008 - 8:11 PMare you speaking of the Wells Fargo parking lot? I never pay. NEVER. If they see me, and say something, I always tell them I got it covered and I never get tickets. The only one I got was early last year and I tore it up and never heard anything after that. It's a scam. -

Re: that damn parking lot
Tue, May 13, 2008 - 11:04 PMthey gave me a parking ticket late last year and I never paid it, and still haven't heard anything about it either. -

Re: that damn parking lot
Thu, May 15, 2008 - 8:55 PMwell in most cases if not paid, parking tickets will roll over to the next time you pay your registration.....and they jump from 40 a shot to 100....I know this applies to municipal tickets....not sure if that covers the lot or not -

Re: that damn parking lot

Re: that damn parking lot
Thu, May 15, 2008 - 9:51 PMDPT and police tickets, yes, but I've never had a parking lot bogus ticket come back on me.

Re: that damn parking lot
Thu, May 15, 2008 - 10:07 PMThat's funny! The parking lot attendants writing tickets. As if ....
I would think that they would have you towed, first. -
-
Re: that damn parking lot
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 10:14 AMI know about regular tickets going onto registration. But I registered my car 6 months after I got that ticket and nothing showed up from them. I usually don't park there, I have a gift for finding parking close by that is safe. -

Re: that damn parking lot
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 10:27 AMlast I heard the parking lot tickets were not through the city, also that you won't get towed from the lot til you haven't paid a couple of tickets. I've gotten only one and ignored it and nothing has happened... but then if I have to park there I pay if the guy is there.

Re: that damn parking lot
Mon, May 19, 2008 - 10:13 AMIf you ignore one ticket from the parking Co. it appears they won't do anything. Now my ex-hubby ignored a few, and one time walked out to find his car gone. Fine print...they can tow you if you don't pay the violations. Not saying they will, but as stated above, I know one deserving person who got towed!
